Benefits of preventative Bloodwork

We realize how important your dog or cat is to you and we are advocates for preventative health care.  Annual exams can certainly help us assess the general well being of your pet, but a physical exam is only one part of being able to diagnose and hopefully prevent long term health concerns.  Some diseases can be masked by vague symptoms and can persist for some time before reaching a level of immediate concern.  Performing routine blood work, especially as your pet reaches its senior years can allow us to make specific recommendations pertaining to diet or if needed, medication, that can prolong the quality of your pets’ life.  We would consider senior to be older than 8 or 9 years of age for most cats and dogs.  Larger dogs have a shorter life expectancy in general, so senior for them comes as early as 7 years of age.  We have informational pamphlets available if you would like to pick one up, or please feel free to talk to any staff member about the benefits of early detection and treatment to ensure your family pet has the best quality of life. Give ’em a hug for us would you?
