Staff

Mission Creek Animal Hospital has great staff!

Dr. Bruce Baptie – Veterinarian

Dr. Baptie graduated from veterinary school at the University of Saskatchewan in 1980. After graduating Bruce and his wife, Heather, decided to search out warmer climate and settled in Abbotsford, BC. That was home for the next 15 years during which time Bruce started two successful veterinary practices, and Bruce and Heather saw their family grow by four children and their dog, Jenna. In 1995, wanderlust took hold and the entire family (except for Jenna) traveled overseas until the spring of 1996. Upon return to Canada, they searched for the nicest place they could find to live and raise a family and landed in Kelowna. The temptation to start another veterinary practice proved too strong to resist and after months of planning and building, the doors of the Mission Creek Animal Hospital (MCAH) opened in January 1999. Dr. Baptie combines the knowledge and experience accumulated in over 30 years of practice with a willingness to always learn something new. He is able to explain difficult medical and surgical problems in every day language that people understand. His soft-touch and compassionate manner are appreciated by both pets and their owners.

Dr. Andrew McCarthy – Veterinarian

Andrew graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in his hometown of Saskatoon in 2006.  Shortly after graduation he and his wife Tannis were married, followed by a cross-country move with their two dogs, Bailey and Jerry, out to Kelowna.  In 2008 Andrew came to Mission Creek Animal Hospital to work with Dr. Baptie and partnered into the business in 2010. The combination of experience and new knowledge and techniques has been beneficial for both veterinarians.  Outside of work Andrew enjoys playing ultimate frisbee and soccer and spending time with his young daughter.

Nicole – Animal Health Technician

Nicole came to us from Saskatoon in 2008 after graduating as an animal health technician from SIAST college.  Nicole is happy to have escaped the prairie winters and spends a lot of time hiking and swimming with her dog Nelson during the summer. She was recently engaged and is busy planning her upcoming wedding.

Louise – Animal Health Technician

Louise received her Animal Health Technician training from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2006.  She emigrated to Canada from England in 2009 with her parents, siblings and new husband. The family has a real spirit of adventure and are busy learning how to camp, fish and chase away bears. You will have no difficulty recognizing Louise on the phone.

Sue – Front Office Manager

Sue is our resident “biker chick”. She is originally from Ontario, but moved to Kelowna in 1993 and has been working in the veterinary field for the last 15 years. We thought she was a pretty quiet, shy type until she showed up one day on her Kawasaki. Sue works hard to keep everything organized and running smoothly in the office. Most days you can find her little dog Sunny sleeping quietly behind the front desk.

Linda – Veterinary Assistant

Linda has worked at several practices in the Okanagan and has many years of experience in the veterinary industry. Her sly wit keeps us all on our toes and she is a hard and steady worker. Her passion is her dogs who have been involved in lure coursing, agility and flyball. She enjoys being outdoors, camping and hiking throughout the summer.
