Dr. Andrew McCarthy – Veterinarian

Andrew graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in his hometown of Saskatoon in 2006.  Shortly after graduation he and his wife Tannis, also a veterinarian, were married and made the move west out to Kelowna.  In 2008 Andrew came to Mission Creek Animal Hospital to work with Dr. Baptie and partnered into the business in 2010. The combination of experience and new knowledge and techniques has been beneficial for both veterinarians. Outside of work Andrew enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, fishing, and soccer and spending time with Tannis and their two beautiful daughters. His friendly manner will be sure to put you and your pet at ease.

 

Dr. Tannis McCarthy – Veterinarian

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Tannis completed her Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary with a major in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology in 2000 and completed her DVM at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. After graduation she began practicing at both an emergency clinic and a general practice clinic in the Okanagan Valley and gained extensive knowledge in emergency medicine and internal medicine with a particular interest in ophthalmology. Tannis enjoys running and can often be found on the numerous sports fields around the city where she plays Ultimate frisbee. Her home life includes her husband Andrew, her two amazing daughters, and a sweet French Bulldog named Tommy, our clinic mascot!

 

Dr. Andrea Spevakow – Veterinarian

Andrea is our newest veterinarian, and she graduated in 2007 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. She’s practiced veterinary medicine in Shrewsbury, England as well as the Lower Mainlandand Victoria before moving to Kelowna – she’s definitely well-traveled! Andrea has a passion for dermatology and internal medicine, and likes getting to the bottom of tough cases. Your four-legged companion will benefit from her meticulous and kind care! Andrea has two beautiful children with her husband, and a goofy Pharaoh hound named Phoenix! She can be found biking to work most days

 

Crystal – Registered Veterinary Technologist

CrystalCrystal graduated from Thompson Rivers University in 2008 and worked in Kamloops with the SPCA shelter and clinic for 6 years. She has a particular soft spot for all things feline and in past years organized the rescue of feral cats and found new homes for those she could. She and her hubby moved to Kelowna in the summer of 2014 and are kept busy with their young daughter. Crystal spends her spare time gardening and baking, and managing her large feline family. Crystal shares her home with many four legged friends – two dogs, a gecko, and many cats! We told you she had a soft spot for cats – we call her the cat whisperer!

 

Melissa – Registered Veterinary Technologist

Melissa graduated in 2011 from Thompson RivFB_IMG_1449116463619ers University in Kamloops and has previously worked for clinics in Winfield and Penticton.  She grew up in the Okanagan and is happy to be back in Kelowna where she is closer to her family.  Melissa shares her home sweet home with 2 cats and a beagle named Boomer.  In her spare time, she enjoys tearing around the roller derby track or getting out for hikes with her pooch.  Her friendly, outgoing personality will certainly put your pet at ease in her excellent care.

 

 

Kelly – Registered Veterinary Technologist

Kelly graduated from Olds College in Alberta in 2013. She is a genuine farm girl, and grew up on her family’s farm in Alberta. She is the proud owner of two horses, as well as two young cats and two dogs. Kelly is an avid rider, and is experienced in Western riding. She can often be found exploring beautiful Okanagan landscape with any number of her four-legged friends – even the kitties!

 

Lynette – Veterinary Technologist

lynetteLynette graduated from Fairview College in 1985 and has worked in various mixed practices in B.C.  She took a little time away from the veterinary field to raise her 3 children and couldn’t resist the temptation to return to her passion.  She has many four legged friends at home – 3 dogs, 4 cats, and one horse.  Lynette is also an avid gardener and quilter when she finds a spare moment in her busy day.  Lynette has such a gentle nature  and lovely smile – your best friend will be in good hands in her care.  

 

 

Sonia – Registered Veterinary Technologist

Sonia has been working in the veterinary industry for many years, and has extensive experience as an RVT. She has a confident, gentle nature, and pets respond positively to her care. Sonia shares her home with a loving husband and a sweet kitty named Topaz, and spends as much time with her two beautiful grandchildren as she can. An avid outdoors enthusiast, Sonia enjoys golfing, hiking and gardening.

 

Kelsey – Veterinary Assistant

Kelsey ‘s wry sense of humour and easy-going nature will help you take excellent care of your special pet. She’s worked as an assistant for many years in the Okanagan, and is experienced in all things veterinary. Kelsey shares her home with a sweet-natured daughter and kitty, Llewyn and Molly, as well as her husband. She has a passion for all things wine and culinary in nature, which she shares with her whole family. She can be found touring local wineries, painting her next masterpiece, or crafting a new dish. Kelsey’s friendly and open manner will put you at ease as she helps you take the best care for your pet. 

 

Katelynne – Veterinary Assistant

Katelynne‘s sweet and kind personality brings a youthful energy to our clinic. Katelynne is an artist as well as a cat lover – her personal touch can be found in various locations around the clinic. Katelynne enjoys anatomy and medicine, and has intense interest in these things, which can be reflected in her artistry. 

 

Sam – Client Care Representative 

Sam has had much experience in the veterinary industry, and his casual and friendly nature will put you at ease. He shares his home with two lovely felines, Casper and Salem, who dictate much of his day-to-day activities. He’s a prolific reader, and enjoys many different genres. Sam’s friendly, pleasant demeanor will be sure to make your veterinary visit a delight.

 

 

Tommy McCarthy – Clinic Mascot

Tommy‘s adorable face and outgoing, gregarious personality will put a smile on your face if you catch a glimpse of him – he can be found often in the office area, begging any human he can find for attention and treats! He keeps our morale high with his antics, and we love him to pieces. He lives with the Dr.’s McCarthy, but he has a special place in our hearts.
